"Innovative services and added value for the customer"

Mehiläinen Public Sector Services – partner for the public sector

Our public sector partners are made up of municipalities, joint municipal authorities and hospital districts. We provide a range of services in health care and social welfare, our units operating under the Mehiläinen, Carema and Leivoyhtiöt banners.

The motto of Mehiläinen Public Sector Services is "innovative service provision and added value for the customer". Our normal practice is to carry out cooperation with our customers in situations where we are seeking costs savings. Durable cost savings are rarely achieved solely on the basis of administrative decisions to cut back on resources. The path to sustainable development in cost savings is through new ways of considering and implementing issues. This is precisely the method adopted by Mehiläinen Public Sector Services. We are also there to help when our customers experience a lack of resources, for example, through problems with staff availability. Our task is to ensure continuity of service provision by finding and placing the right people where they are needed.

Diversified services and close partnership

Our service units located all over Finland provide a wide range of services. Our remit in health care, for example, involves primary health care services for population-based areas of responsibility jointly agreed with the municipalities, from outpatient hospital care to health care services in schools, clinics and dental practices. We also take overall responsibility for municipal home care and home care nursing services.

Services for the ageing population incorporate housing services in accordance with mutually agreed care dimensioning. A unit may either focus on a single municipality or provide for the inhabitants of several municipalities. All our units draft a personal service and care plan for each customer. The customer's primary nurse heads regular reviews of the plan together with the customer, municipal representatives and the customer's relatives.

A recent area of mental health rehabilitation work involves us in responding to the challenges faced by today's young adults, where key themes are social exclusion and completion of professional training. Cooperation models operated within the units are honed in close cooperation with municipal social workers, the mental health clinic and hospital district representatives. This ensures that each customer undergoing rehabilitation receives care corresponding to his or her needs. Close cooperation between client and service provider also ensures that costs generated by services remain under control.

Our child welfare units operate all over Finland, providing primary child welfare services for children and young people of all ages. Three of these units are specialist units focusing on psychiatric services for children and adolescents in receipt of child welfare support. Unit operations are based on tight cooperation with municipal social welfare, health care and educational and cultural services.

Partners for child psychiatry services are the hospital districts, and our hospital operates as an integral part of the hospital district care chain.

Principal interest groups for staff recruitment services are customer municipalities and hospital districts, as well as experts functioning as the mainstays of operations. Our nationwide network of operations enables us to arrange experts for our public sector customers in situations where recruitment constitutes a challenge or there is a temporary need for resources. Our special expertise includes procurement services in specialised medical care. For experts, we are able to arrange rewarding tasks at the fulcrum of health care and social services which correspond to their needs and life circumstances.
